Established in 2025, Roots Cafe Inverness is a passion project built with a mindful and creative ethos and vision that is backed up by our knowledge of the hospitality industry and our commitment and determination to create expansion into something new and magical.
Carrying on the legacy of the cafe that was before....
We are River and Rebecca and we worked in the old Velocity Cafe together for 4 years. At the sad end of Velocity's reign we were gutted that the cafe would have to close. River had spent the 4 years he had worked there developing the menu and recipes to build the cafe up to the popular place that it was and we knew that it was going to be greatly missed in the community. After much thought and lengthy talks we decided to take the leap and join forces to open up what is now Roots Cafe!
With River's mastermind in the kitchen and Rebecca's extensive experience in the hospitality industry, the idea of owning our own business seemed like the right next step for us both. We love welcoming old and new customers into our space and we aim to provide a community space that is inclusive and where people feel safe and free to be themselves.
Providing what we believe to be a unique experience in Inverness - the cafe's social responsibility and unique selling points have shaped our desire to ultimately improve on the old business whilst tapping into the market that existed before. We plan for this to extend from the daily service into outside catering for events as well as using our space for meetups and events that match our ethos & values. Our vision is a cafe, a future food truck, and a healthy environment for staff & customers.
